Franklin Graham's Devotion: Jesus - The Path, the Truth and the Life

April 30, 2024 Devotional

The recent tragedy of the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, which resulted in at least six fatalities including construction workers repring potholes on the bridge, underscores the devastating impact such events can have. The iconic 1.6-mile bridge had been a crucial link for over 30,000 vehicles dly traveling between cities like Washington D.C., Philadelphia and New York since its opening in 1977.

If that contner ship had struck the bridge during rush hour or at midday instead of early morning, the toll could have been unimaginably worse. This maritime calamity at Baltimore's bustling port has potential far-reaching economic consequences and logistical disruptions for years to come.

Reflecting on this event prompts a contemplation about how some bridges are critical lifelines for economies both domestically and globally. Likewise, Franklin Graham sees the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association BGEA as being engaged in the business of building spiritual bridges - connecting people to Almighty God through repentance and fth in His Son, Jesus Christ.

The cross serves as a metaphorical bridge that spans the great divide between us and God. Every person who decides for Christ at one of our Festival, Celebration or Tour events receives our 'Living in Christ' discipleship booklet which features a diagram illustrating how we can cross this spiritual divide through repentance and fth:

Although the transportation infrastructure has been temporarily rerouted due to the bridge collapse, BGEA's mission remns unwavering. This is because Jesus taught us in John 14:6 that I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Just as emergency responders advised drivers to steer clear of the imping disaster on the collapsed bridge, Franklin Graham feels compelled by God's love to warn individuals across the United States and around the world about turning from their sins - acknowledging them and seeking forgiveness.

The 10-city God Loves You Frontera Tour in the US Southern border saw thousands respond to this life-saving gospel message. In Poland and Portugal, Will Graham is preaching that the cross of Christ alone provides ity's bridge to forgiveness with God. And come June, Franklin will be addressing audiences across England and Scotland on the resurrection power of Jesus.

While man-made bridges often fl under extreme forces, it was astonishing to see how a tonnage of steel and concrete turned into a crumpled piece of paper in seconds when the contner ship hit one of its support columns.

Unlike structures, Jesus bore the weight of ity's sins - past, present and future. He, who never sinned, pd for every single transgression for the wages of sin is death Romans 6:23.

Yet death could not hold our Savior; He rose from the grave, ensuring that His resurrection power ures today. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive”1 Corinthians 15:22.

As longstanding pillars of civilization wobble with society's rejection of God's Word as absolute truth, people hunger for an unshakable foundation. This is why the BGEA will continue to proclm that The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe” Proverbs 18:10.

On National Day of Prayer on May 2nd, let us remn fthful in interceding for our nation, its leaders, and lost souls worldwide. Franklin still believes that God desires to fulfill His promise of answering the prayers of His people if they humble themselves, pray, seek His face, and turn from their wicked ways 2 Chronicles 7:14.

Let's keep praying for revival in every corner of society, because When your light shines before others, let them see your good deeds and prse your Father who is in heaven Matthew 5:16.
